is 720+ with collections and lates in last 4 yrs possible?

I am very close to 720 on TU and EX, but I have collections and lates that are within the last 4 years. Some of the collections are marked unpaid. 720 seems a good score, but I'm worried that it doesn't matter much with the collections and lates. Perfect example: I have a Cap One card w/$500 limit. Called backdoor line to request CLI recently and was declined, and I'm betting it was because I have one 30-day late with them from about 3 years ago.

Any thoughts on this?

I have a single 120 day late on my CR which will be 4 years old in August and my scores are what you see in my sig.  EX was 760 last month but I dont know what it is now.

My util is really 0 but as you can also see in my sig, I let a small amount report and then PIF.

I have heard that a 120 day late is like a collection but I dont know the effect of multiple collections

Others may chime in here on this.

Hmm, interesting. Yeah, I don't know the chances of getting rid of the collections I do have. There are three unpaid parking tickets that I'm tempted to just call in to OSI and pay. It's less than $300 total. Sad that something I should have taken care of at the time can affect me so much, but all things pass with time and I've gotten my util down to less than 10%, so that should count for a lot.

You might have a better shot getting an unpaid collection off your CR via a PFD than me getting a GW from BofA for a zero balance account.  100% worth a shot.

Yeah, I was thinking of skipping the DV and doing a PFD on those ones. Any downside to that? I'm admitting that it's "mine" (which it is), but the SOL for my state has passed. Thoughts?

Always DV, even if you know it is yours. A DV established exactly how much is owed, by which to base your PFD off of. A DV determines who owns the debt (just in case the CA already sold it and failed to update the CRs). And a DV opens a line of communication with the CA because a CA doesn't have to respond at all to a PFD.

There are many people here who know about doing DV and PFDs.  I never had (luck) a collection
