later payment issue

A little over six months ago I received a phone call from a company that claimed I owed them money on a credit card I had from them. However, I had payed the credit card about six months before the phone call. I had used the credit card only once and never received a bill, so I called the company and payed it over the phone. However, the person I was speaking to neglected to include the dollar something finance charge so this remained on the bill. Once again, I never received any notice in the mail that I owed anything. In fact, the first time any problem was brought to my attention was the phone call six months after I thought I had paid the account in full. On this phone call I was told that I owed around 150.00 after all the late fees and finance charges were added up. After I explaining the situation, the representative expressed that it was their error and that it would be resolved. She went on to say that my credit would not be affected since it was never actually sent to collections. However, when I signed up for myFico, I saw that it was listed as having affected my credit score negatively. It was listed as six consecutive months of late payments. Would writing a dispute letter be sufficient in solving this problem, or is there an alternate path I should take. Any suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Re: later payment issue

You need to get on the phone with this company-
Move up the chain of commannd until you find someone that will help you and WILL follow-up.
Disputing with the CRA's is not going to do any good-
This needs to be fixed on the lenders side-

Good luck!!!!
