my TU FICO score

So..I just got my Discover statement and it says my FICO score is 740. Is that good/average? Also, what can a good FICO do for me now besides applying for new lines of credit?

Re: my TU FICO score

That's a good score that's just shy of excellent.

You should be able to get approval for larger TLs and better APRs. Once you're over 760 you'll be in the excellent range, and you will start getting the best APRs.

But, that's all subject to YEMV.

Your 740 TU score but depends on insurance provider on which bureau they pull...

I have AAA insurance. My parents are the ones who bought the insurance, but do you think they'll give me a better rate right now if I let them know my credit scores?

Unlikely; they will pull scores when an application is made.  Also FWIW as I understand it the commonly used insurance score is not FICO but rather some other algorithm.

ETA: some states such as California do not allow a credit check to be made as a condition of auto insurance.
