Hello everyone! If there's a new blog article that I think you guys might like I plan on posting it in the Forums.
This week's article is celebrating myFICO's 20th Anniversary. You can also check out our 20th Anniversary celebration page here.
Let me know what you guys think!
Nice! The website is so festive-looking lol
Love it!
I don't think it says anywhere at what point the forum started. Was that also in 2001, or did it launch later?
@eli
I like the "Our History" scroll. I think the first 3B reports became available around March 2015 and Fico 9 was added to the reports in February 2016.
What ever happened to Fico XD?
@Anonymous
Later than 2001- the earliest I recall seeing is 2007. That is the 1st year for any past/present moderator in the member list.
The attached link has a Fico Score Evolution timeline. It says Fico scores were invented in 1989 although Fico scores were not available from all 3 CRAs until 1991.
Interesting to read that 2% (1 in 50) people now have a Classic Fico 8 score of 850. Five years ago that was closer to 1%.
I would chalk the majority of that up to education on the subject of Fico scores.
2007 sounds about right as far as age of the forum. Those are about the oldest dates I see on posts that I come across when searching.
I think the higher percentage relates to elimination of derogs, such as liens. I recall some posters (such as Inverse) whose score jumped from the 750s to 850 when his lien was removed. Such liens are no longer allowed on reports and other derogs are easier to get removed. Burden of proof for derogs can more cumbersome with changes in regulations. Therefore, some creditors may be more likely to remove certain types of derogs when disputed.
I do think that education though is a driving force behind much of it. Outside of derogs being easier to be removed, there's simply much more knowledge as far as getting degogs removed. Credit repair services for example are far more popular now than they were say a decade ago, and along with that trend you've got people such as us on this forum that work the same way a CRS would to eliminate negatives. So where a decade ago a group of dirty files may have had to wait 7 years to [naturally] get clean, you've got far more efforts made presently to clean them up ahead of time.
I will say that these forums are probably the best run forums I have ever been part of.
The mods are terrific... striking the right balance between gentle intervention and hands off (so many Internet forum mods think they own the internet!).
Im amazed at how well they keep everything organized by the appropriate sub-forum.
They set the example for knowledge sharing, support, and maintaining a positive adult environment free of trolls.
In short, a huge Shout-out to the mods for all the work you do to keep this a safe corner of the internet!
(Now I'm going to go start a flame war somewhere!)
