So i checked DH walmart FICO score and it plummeted 40 pts. I see the reasoning "Public record or Collection."
I immediately check all his reports and BAM this collection from MIDLAND RECOVERY from a creditor named ACE CASH. We have never heard/dealt with this ACE CASH before, nor been in the same state per the location being given. I disputed the information with the 3 bureaus, filed complaints with the CFPB and BBB. We believe this is ID Theft. Is there anything else we should do?
As for the AA part of my post, is there anything we can do to possibly prevent any AA? Should he let the lenders know or let them know if they take any action on his accounts? This collection just reported this month and we are attacking it ASAP which would be today since thats when we found out about it.
I would have him file a police report, and have the information blocked from his reports. Good Luck! I would NOT notify anyone about this, thats just me though... just have him talk to a police officer and have it blocked, no dispute required.
Yeah, and not that I know of, you can still contact the police about it, my dad went through this.. still is going through it.. if its removed in the next few weeks id assume no problems will occur.. its when it stays on for months it will become a problem.. and yeah it doesn't make a difference as far as i know..
Ace cash is a check cashing/payday loan/title loan place who are national. Are you sure he's never dealt with them in any way ?
Readd FCRA 605B and the extensive sticky posts regarding identity theft block that is provided at the top of the General Credit Topics forum.
Yes, filing of an identity theft (police) report works, and should be the first step in removing identity theft information from your credit report and scoring.
