payments not in my name

I am making payments on a new car but it is in my wifes name.  I also made the payments on another car used for a trade in that was not in my name.  Can I get those payment histories put on my credit score?  If so, how do I do it.

no, you cannot get them in your name unless you were a co-signer or co-borrower, or you refinance to get your name on the new loan.

Re: payments not in my name

if she has credit cards with flawless history and age that will not draw down your average age of accounts, you can be added as an authorized user.  this is the easiest way to share accounts, and you can be taken off the acct if things go haywire.

i don't believe installment loans can be modified to add you unless you refinance into a new loan (like laz said).  if you did that, you'd have a new installment account, which may improve your mix in the long run, assuming you have no installment loans already.  if you already have one, it wouldn't be worth the trouble to have two.  it's probably not worth the trouble of refi anyway.
