question about baddie dropping off

I am sure this has been answered on here before, but I can't seem to find anything. My husband has an old credit card on his report that says it was reported since October 2001. He disputed something on it in December and now it says the last reported date is December 2007. I thought that it should drop off in October of this year, but now it says it's not scheduled to drop off until December of 2014! What should I do? Is it that every time something is disputed, they will change the report date?  Any advice would be great..thank you

Re: question about baddie dropping off

Updating the report date is normal-

When was the account late?
What is the status of the TL?

Re: question about baddie dropping off

It says "account legally paid in full for less than full balance"
date opened 10/2001
I don't know when it was late or anything, it shows no data. It's a closed account with First Premier Bank.

Is there a Date of Last Activity?

How does it show on you Annual report (annualcreditreport.com)
or report directly from the CRA?

Re: question about baddie dropping off

OK now we have something-

OK the account was late July 02 - 30 days late-
Normally the account would report until June 2009 *this is when the late would be removed as well)

I am guessing you/he paid the account Aug of 04 and the account is being treated as a positive account by EXP -

Re: question about baddie dropping off

It's listed under the negatives on his report though. They just recently changed the date that it was due to drop off. It was due to drop off this year and then they changed it to drop 2014. I just don't understand why. Is it becase he disputed something?

Re: question about baddie dropping off

Yeah- Sounds like it was because of being disputed.

Hopfully a lesson learned-

Re: question about baddie dropping off

what lesson? i didn't think it was legal to reage accounts based on a dispute? I didn't think it was legal for them to reage anything unless it had been paid up or paid off. what did OP do wrong that entitled them to reage their account?

Re: question about baddie dropping off

That's what I was confused about. I didn't think that they could reage it because of a dispute. Nothing on the account changed. It was paid in 2004.
