I'd start here. https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/
My 2nd dispute came back as verified. Submitted a CFPB complaint today🤞 will update when they get back to me
Update 5 hrs later: got this from the CFPB.
"The company has responded that it is still working on your issue.
We expect companies to respond to every complaint within a reasonable amount of time. The company has responded that it is still working on your issue. You should hear from them again with a final response within 60 days."
Update. I got mine corrected. I re disputed online and via certified mail and uploaded all documents I was able to get. I contacted capital one who provided me a letter which showed original date of delinquency and all statements leading up to delinquency, payoff/settlement letter and a screenshot of equifax report showing incorrect dates for date of 1st Major delinquency. I wrote a cover letter explaining the situation. I just got a alert just now that my capital one info has changed and my score increased by 23 points which is what it had origanlly dropped. Best bet for anyone going through this is gather as much evidence and write a clear explanation on what's going on upload all documents online or mail them certified to equifax.
Thanks for sharing! That gives me hope. So wild that it's such a drawn out process to correct their mistake.
Alabama Consumer Protection Lawyers - search them on youtube. I can't remember the exact name of the video, but Equifax is notorius for that delinquincy date thing, and it is generally THEIR issue, not the creditors. You will be able to find it though I am sure if you look at their videos. Good information they offer for free, and they are lawyers.
Update: CFPB just emailed that Equifax concluded their investigation. They finally fixed it, a month later
