"Maxed Out: Nothing Is Priceless"

That is the title of a movie i recently saw at and rented from Blockbuster. I don't know if anyone else has seen it or heard of it yet, but I thought I would share my thoughts on it.

I found it to be very informative. Especially for people not as credit knowledgeable as the people at this forum. It concentrates mostly on the credit card industry, but does mention FICO scores, housing issues, political issues and several other things. It has received many accolades (10 film festival accolades on the cover) and good reviews including "Two Thumbs Up" from Ebert & Roeper, but I don't know how. I felt this documentary style film was put together in a very haphazard way. A narrator would have helped this move along quite a bit. I found it hard at times to see what direction the story was going. I also found myself wanting to know more about the people in the movie and their situations. Some of their stories were not presented in a logical manner. But what do I know? I'm just your average movie watcher.

I hope more people here will be interested in picking this movie up and checking it out. I think it was put together poorly, but the content and information are still there. And it's very important information. I think most of the readers and posters here would find it interesting. If anyone else has seen or goes to get this, please let me know what you think of it.

I completely agree with your assessment of this film.  Overall I thought it was just OK, and this is coming from someone who is semi-obsessed with the subject of credit.

There is a lot of good information in the film; some of the interviews with experts are particularly informative.  Still, the film meanders along with no real structure, which is kind of annoying after a while.

I did like the interviews with the experts.

Some parts were politically motivated.  I am by no means a Republican, but it made some points about Bush that were unfair.  I'd hate to see some of the things it brought up compared to some of the Democratic leaders.  I'm sure there isn't much discrepency between parties.
