revolving balances question

can somebody explain to me what these  means? i was denied credit based on this. What is revolving balances? dont think this apply to me. Also does the length of time refered to credit card acct or any credit acct? I just have credit card last 2 yrs but have store credit, auto loan since 2000.

Proportion of revolving balances to revolving credit limits is too high.

Length of time accounts have been established.

Too many inquiries last 12 months.

No recent revolving balances.

Re: revolving balances question

Hi densma, and welcome to the forums!

The first statement refers to your utilization, this is the percentage of your available credit lines that you are currently using.  For instance, a high utility might be to a $900 balance on a card with a limit of $1000, for a utility of 90%.  Revolving credit lines include credit card accounts, store card accounts and lines of credit.  Your auto loan is considered an installment account and does not factor in your revolving utilization.

I'm honestly not sure how you can have the first complaint and the last one, maybe someone can else can chime in there.  Two resources you may want to take a look at are: Credit Scoring 101 and Understanding Your FICO Score

Those should get you started, good luck!

Re: revolving balances question

IMO they mail out a form letter. I do not know of anyone that received one that told the person the real reason. It's like take your pick.
