so upset...re: allied interstate inquiries

I was hoping to get some feedback as to who I should contact first.

My husband has an old Direct Tv bill that:

1) was paid to original creditor to begin with;

2) was sent to Allied Interstate (even though we paid Direct TV)

3) we argued with this CA so long that we decided to include the amount in our Chapter 7 bankruptcy since we figured even though it was already paid, they wouldn't stop coming after us.

3/15. I called Allied Interstate. They told me they no longer had the acount.

4/01/08: Was deleted from my hubbies TU, EX, and EQ.

5/05/2008: HARD INQ (!!!) on TU
5/06/2008: HARD INQ (!!!) on EQ
5/07/2008: HARD INQ (!!!) on EQ *thats right Equifax twice!

I am so angry because:

1) they told ME that they DONT have the account
2) It was PAID to begin with and never should have gone to collections in the first place.
3) It was discharged in bk (discharged 3/08) and they are violating the bankruptcy stay
4) These are hard inquiries that are hurting my husbands scores  (from 615 to 598 on both TU and EQ) as a result of these. Smiley Sad

I am so angry and upset. I am not sure if I should contact Allied Interstate first to demand they remove the inquiries or notify the CRA's that these are not only fraudulent but also violating a bankruptcy stay on collecting these debts.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Is it possible that the inquiries are in regards to another debt?

I'd send the Non-PP letter.

Re: so upset...re: allied interstate inquiries

I am not sure what to think. I just got off the phone with them and they said "they don't have the ability to do hard inquiries". I asked to talk to the supervisor and he said the same. He gave me the number to their in house "consumer advocacy group" to call tomorrow.

They said that they had his old "direct tv" account sent back to the OC in March.

Perhaps someone messed up at both TU and EQ?

The only other "baddie" he has is two judgments (that have been vacated) and one signature private loan from sallie mae that is in charge off status (but still with Sallie Mae as far as we know...we have been communicating with them about it).

I don't know what to think.

I don't think the same mess up occured at both TU and EQ.

Maybe a dishonest employee of the CA who is fishing for information to see who has good credit, so they know whose ID to steal? Not trying to scare you, but it wouldn't suprise me.

Let us know what the advocacy group says.

I'd really watch my reports for anything unusual.

Re: so upset...re: allied interstate inquiries

I have something from Allied Interstate Inc on my credit report as of today regarding a Direct TV bill that is not ours.  We never had Direct TV!!!  I cannot get in touch with anyone from Allied Interstate and have been calling all the credit agencies including my bank where I get my credit report from monthly to put alerts on my account because whomever opened the Direct TV account has my SS number and other pertinent information about me.  There have been 2 other credit card accounts opened in my name as well that I had disputed and had removed off my credit report.  The Direct TV bill was sent to collections and from what I was told by a representative there is that it was titled as a bankruptcy....I HAVE NEVER FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY.  My credit score was excellent until I received my monthly score this morning.  AND I have NEVER been reported to a collections agency so this is really upsetting me.  If you have any contact information for Allied Interstate Inc please email it to me because the number that I have is one that repetitively plays the same recording over and over for hours.  I cleaned my house with the speaker phone on this morning and still was unable to reach anyone there.  Best of luck to you with everything as well.  If I find anything out I will pass the info on to you as well.  My email is Thanks.
