sprint just pulled a hard enquiry without my permission!!

How is this posible. I got a fraud alert on my Experian and I just saw that Sprint pulled an Inquiry from them. How this happened without my knowledge. IS this possible? It is showing om Fico report inquiry, so I believe is hard Inquiry. I am about 10 days from applying for a loan, and now I have this inquiry without my permission. What should do?

ooooh are you saying that you have a Fraud Alert with the CBRs and not only did not initiate anything with Sprint, but they slipped thru the Fraud Alert?

That is correct. Monday I will call Experian, because this is so weird. How can they pull a inquiry and I have a fraud alert on my credit report. Crazy! I did not even try to appply for nothing with them.

I am not an expert in Fraud Alerts or Freezes so I don't know offhand if it would still stop an INQ from remaining on your CR, but actually yes they can pull.  With a FA the CRA is supposed to let you know if someone tries to open credit to verify that it is you who has authorized it.  I don't know if they automatically remove the INQ if you do not respond or respond (unofficially) that it was not you, but I would doubt it.   In your situation, I would dispute this online as 'not mine'.

So really you have a few issues, did someone use your identity to apply with Sprint or was it Sprint INQing for a different (and unauthorized) purpose.  I would still send them an Unauthorized INQ letter CMRRR.

Contact Sprint to investigate right away via pone to their security dept. They might be able to remove it over night. If not removed in a time frame you are comfortable with, dispute as not yours. You can do this with a F/A. You might also consider a "Freeze" on your CR files. This should prevent any new activity for standard new accounts. You should also follow up with a police report. I would not just brush it off. I would want this person using your ID to know you mean business. This way you can make them discard your info and not want to use it. Smiley Happy It does work.

The first thing I did was to call them, because I was worry that someone tried or opened an account under my name. The fraud department was too busy. I spoke with costumer services and asked if there was a new open account under my name, and it was not. I am puzzled how can I get an inquiry with fraud alert. Freeze, I think is too much, because it would give me a hard time every time I try to apply for credit.

Re: sprint just pulled a hard enquiry without my permission!!

The F/A alerts a company to contact you before opening a new account. It does not block the inq from what I understand. The freeze should block the inq by denying access to the credit file. So in another words the F/A is like leaving the door open with a note inside saying caution. The Freeze is like locking the door so they can't even see inside.
