the ghost of cap 1 returns

To make a long story short I had a cap 1 secured card back in 1996 eventually CO'd in Jan. 2000.
it fell off reports awhile ago and now i get a letter in the mail from a CA saying they bought account from Capital One on 3-22-07. I have a credit report from Feb 2000 that shows when it was CO'd. I live in Washington State and believe SOL is 6 years. Do I ignore this as it is past the SOL or DV?. It also is not showing on any of the CRA's. Just when things were looking good BAM!. I think this is my fault though cause I applied for a Cap 1 card and think i awoke the sleeping giant....i got a card though!.

The SOL is up. DV them... consult an attorney if they report.

Re: the ghost of cap 1 returns

I got one fr CapOne CA...The SOL expired long time ago..I just throw them in the shredder..Do not stress yourself..If u reply to them they will/most likely tag your CR for the next seven years.

However, if you want to pay the bill feel free...Nothing like a free conscience!Smiley Wink

They took enough money fr me in the past and I will not pay them another dime. I have a CapOne card that I rarely use...and it's in good standing for over seven years.

If it's not on your CRAs, you can just shred it.

If you wanna make 'em go away, C&D them. If they continue to harass you, contact the Washington State AG's office.

If it were me, I'd send 'em a DV letter. But then I have a mean streak in me, and I welcome a violator of FDCPA.
