timing of GW letters

I understand from what I've read here that it's probably best to wait to dispute a new item while you still have other disputes pending. Does that pertain to GW letters also or is it okay to start GW letters while you have disputes on other items pending?

Re: timing of GW letters

Disputes go to CRAs.

GWs go to OCs or CAs.

The reason for not disputing new items when you have an open dispute pending is that it extends the period of time the CRA has to respond on the original dispute.

GWs have nothing to do with the CRA dispute process, so you can send as many of these as you want to whomever you want, whenever you want.

Oh yeah, I guess that makes sense.  If I'd have thought about it a little harder, it probably would have come to me.  Thanks for the help!

Re: timing of GW letters

timing of GW letters- is actually a great topic

I have been wanting to start a thread on this for awhile-

Example-
Capone- 1st and 2nd level CSR's can zap lates under 1 year and they will zap 30's for customers with accounts in good standing.

Re: timing of GW letters

Really?  Wow, that's fantastic to know!!  That actually leads into a question I had.  Who in the company do I start with sending the GW's to?  Do I call a CSR to ask them who to send them to, do I look at the website  and see if I can find anyone to send it to?  This will be my first batch of GW's, so I really don't know.  Thanks!

Re: timing of GW letters

This actually leads to a question that I had (and maybe it is worthy of a separate, sticky thread?), particularly how long to receive a response.

- To whom have you made a  GW request?
- How did you make the request (phone, fax, email, regular mail, CMRRR)?
- How long until you received a response
- Did it work? Yes/no/partial?

Might be helpful for people to have the info consolidated.

Good idea!  I don't know how to do that.  Smiley Wink
