What do you all think about sending a GW letter on a pastdue account to the OC with a check to pay it off and in the letter say if this check is cashed you agree to delete the account from my credit report ? make a copy of the GW for your files. do you think it will hold up if thay dont delete the account or will thay not not cash the check.?

I have read that it has worked before, but I think there are laws specific to each state that limits what can be written in the memo line of the check (Like PAID IN FULL) and what it counts for. Sorry I can't give you more specifics. I'd research more before I signed that check though..

It will not hold up. When you pay a debt, your payment is unconditional - there are no strings attached.
