will I ever be able to check my score?

Some seven years ago I had a family member use a debit card, one that I had not used in ten years and not closed the account on. He totaled up $37 on the card.  I was out of the country for 10 years and didn't know that the bank had covered the amount of the over draft (there was only $5 left in the account). The bank sent letters, askin for the $37,  I didn't get them,  as I said I was away. The whole thing went to a collection agency.  About a year after that I got word about the unauthorized use of the card. I had access to my credit locked due to potential fraud. that was years ago and I lived without credit these many years buying cars, a house, boats and everything else with cash.

After several frustrating encounters with car rentals Companys while traveling on vacation (demanding a c. card) I have tried to figure out how to unlock the credit information in order to see just what my score is and to possibly get one of these damned cards, but so far I have failed. When I try to check my score on any of the services I get the message that the info is not available. Can someone give me step by step directions on how to fix this?

Thanks

Re: will I ever be able to check my score?

It sounds like the issue might be that you don't have a credit score.

Have you tried pulling your reports from annualcreditreport.com?
