Hey Guys,
Had too file bankruptcy and it was discharged at the end of 2007 and since them i not used my credit in any way. My equifax scores is currently 659. I am now wanting to get starting rebuilding my credit, can someone tell me what a good 1st step will be to do so ? An also with my situation and when i get re-establishing some credit should my scores go up rather quickly ?
Thanks in advance for any and all help you provide
I would recommend that you begin by reviewing your CR for old derogs that you can try to get deleted. They are the killers.
BK does not delete accuracte, prior credit reporting. It mandates that an account discharged in BK thereafter show a $0 balance.
What old derogs remain in your CR, and what are their dates?
Hi heyyou - and welcome!
If your 659 is an Equifax FICO pulled from this site, it comes with a report - a great tool for rebuilding. Open your report, and look at Tab #2 (understanding your score); it will show what's helping your FICO score and what's hurting your FICO score. This will be a great help in choosing your first steps in rebuilding.
I'm going to guess that you're being dinged for not having any open revolving accounts. Folks typically see a significant FICO score jump when they open their first current revolving account, especially if it's a bank or national credit card account.
Post what you're finding on your credit report, and folks will chime in and let you know some good first steps to take. A good place to post (and read) is the Rebuilding Your Credit forum.
Best wishes!
Thanks for your response and upon looking at my credit report i find out what is hurting me is that i am an authorized user of a credit card that i did not open that account but can use, though i doo not use it at the moment, who knew this affected my credit lol, but the person useing it has it at 100 percent maximum, luckily for me that the card only has a 421 dollar limits. Now the scores predictor on this site is saying that if that 421 is paid in full my scores will go from 659 too between 709 - 749........ just curious how accurate is that ??
Oh an yeah the 659 is thee number told to me by this site
Thanks
Also i do not have any collections or any outstanding debt left over from bankruptcy. So except the one issues mentioned my credit report does not show anythings bad and that is good..
Have yourself removed as an AU. The card will be removed from your CR.
