Hi Everyone!
I was supposed to close on my new home 3/27/2020. Everything is done with my loan, but my LO contacted me today to ask if it would cause me major issues if closing moved from 3/27 to 3/30 because the appraiser is saying they can't get the report to them until the 24th. I explained to her that there would be significant impact to me. It's a 19 hour drive from where I live now, moving truck is scheduled, movers scheduled, new owners are closing on my house here so I have to leave. I have dogs coming with me and family was traveling to my new town to help unload when I get there, now I would have to find 3 extra nights of housing for me and my dogs and extend my truck rental, extend family stay, etc.
LO is going to call the appraiser and push to get it earlier but said if they cannot or will not then we'll have to move closing out. Understandable. I guess my question is could I offer to pay more for the appraisal to get it done on time? I don't know if that is an option, if it is what would be the right amount to offer? Has anyone done that with any success?
For anyone wondering or for future reference since I answered my own question, my LO put a rush on it with the appraiser, which costs extra but she said she felt they should pay for it, but it doesn't guarantee the result we need. Just have to wait and see if they honor it or not. Hopefully, they do! It's difficult lining up movers and places to stay with the Covid 19 situation. Very unfortunate time to be having to move.
I hope the appraiser comes through for you.
Good luck in your new home.
I sure hope everything works out for you.
