My husband and I are getting ready to do a new construction loan and I have been working diligently and increasing my credit scores. While my FICO credit scores are increasing, my mortgage scores have not moved at all. What is the best way to increase these scores? Or is there a lag in the system and it doesn't update as frequently as the regular FICO scores? If this has already been covered, I apolgozie. I couldn't find the information in my search. Thank you.
There is not a secret way to increase mortgage scores comapred. The quickest way to increase any credit score (mortage included) is to continue making payments on time and keep CC utiliazation low. I wish we had a magic solution for you, but unfortunately that is not the case.
One thing I've noticed with the different score models on MyFico, they only update the mortgage scores when you purchase a new report, whereas your scores that get updated with every change are the standard score models.
...from personal observation over the past year, the mortgage model appears to weigh installment debts more than the cc model does ...it apparently weighs collection accounts less ...hth
Scores are the RESULT of a robust credit profile. Focus on your profile ... how many tradesline you have? how old are they? are the all in good standing? do you have any baddies on your report? Are your reports 100% accurate?
I can't give useful recommendation of raising scores other than the above.
if u have debt pay it down of pay it off
my middle score was 617
i paid off most pf my debt
now my middle score is 675
this is my middle mortgage score
You're probably not purchasing reports. That's the only current way to get updated mortgage scores from myFico.
Thanks everyone for the replies. It sounds like I'm being impatient and have to wait for my monthly report to pull to see the updated mortgage scores.
I'm happy to say that in just a month, by paying off my credit cards, my scores have drastically increased! Just excited to see my mortgage score update as well.
EQ 608 --> 663
TR 623 --> 650
EX 625 --> 673
My monthly report pulls again on 4/30, so I'll report back if the mortgage scores also increased. Thanks again!

...what "monthly report" are you speaking of? ...afaik the myFico mortgage scores NEVER update unless you pay for a new report ...or wait for the ANNUAL report update ...only the myFico cc scores update on a frequent basis as the CRAs update them ...even then the contents of your reports do not update ...only the alerts and any reported cc score changes ...hth
