Local mortgage broker or not?

Is there any benefit to working with a local mortgage broker vs a larger mortgage broker that works with people from most states? I have a few in mind and was wondering if there is a benefit to either. First time home buyer, if that matters.

I hear more personalized service. Also flexibility. A big company might be more stiff about things.

In this Market having a Lender Qualification letter from a local lender who is known to the local RealnEstste Community is important to getting your offer accepted. Realtors do not want to do business with an unknown lender who is out of area vs a known and proven lender in the community.
