New Collection just popped up!!!! Help me please

Last year I did a PFD with Enhanced Recovery.  For no reason whatsoever, they decided to put that collection account back on my credit report.  It even shows that the collection was paid LAST YEAR but listed on my credit report yesterday. I called Enhanced and explained what happened questioning why they did this and was told that I would have to submit my info for an "investigation".  I sent them a copy of my credit report showing the collection along with my address, ssn, etc.

I was just informed that my house is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month with closing scheduled for the first week in September.  Somebody please help me figure out what to do.  Enhanced told me that it takes three days to complete an investigation and it is then that I will know how they choose to proceed.  Should I dispute the account? At this point is it too late to dispute? It is my understanding that you can not have any active disputes on your report. Also....and this is the kicker......there is another account with Enhanced that I PFD. I am scared that this one will pop up too!

Other info:

Date of first Deliquency is sometime in 2009

My Equifax FICO is at 676....a few points above what it was during underwriting. i didnt check the other ones but equifax was used for my loan.

Quickly file a complaint with CFPB, site "unfair debt collection practice" or whatever option is close to that. Attach a PDF copy of the paid account. CFPB will get you results within 14 days; this should be within your closing timeframe. Do it now!

Re: New Collection just popped up!!!! Help me please

I filed a complaint with both bbb and cfpd last night then called the company today and they said that the account was reported in error and will be removed however they could not tell me how long removal would take. I hope the formal complaints will make them take it off quickly.

Re: New Collection just popped up!!!! Help me please - UPDATE

As I mentioned yesterday, I called up the company and they told me that they would delete the account.  Today I received the company's response to the complaint I filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  They said that the erroneous reporting of the account was due to a system error and that they submitted a request to delete the account.  As of now, the account is only with Equifax.  Do anyone of you think that I can call Equifax and ask that they delete it based on that information? What should I say?

Big thank you to toi34 who recommended that I file a complaint with CFPB. I did not know this organization existed until you mentioned them.  Thank you! Smiley Happy

Re: New Collection just popped up!!!! Help me please

Happy everything worked out. Reminds me of a funny story....

About 12 yrs ago, I pulled my credit report and to my surprise, there were two student loan balances... One was 470k and one was 236k. I nearly passed out. Lol. I didn't know much about credit back then, but I knew enough to call sallie Mae to find out what the fudge was going on. Apparently, there was some error with their reporting tape that month, and everyone's loans on that tape were screwed up. The lady said it was stressful times there because everyone was calling in. Re: New Collection just popped up!!!! Help me please - UPDATE

Thank you @ Beasly! I'm glad it worked ou. All thanks goes to the members of this forum whose insight and advice is invaluable. I learned about the CFPB through other members too, I had never heard of this agency either. Now they are my "to go" agency because I am very impatient. Smiley Happy

Glad it worked out.

If you haven't done so already OPT OUT!  It will keep other bottom feeders and trollers from putting something on your report when they see you're applying for a mortgage.
