Isn't that link only for receiving pre-screened offers?  Or is it that CRA's are included in the small print, as "credit monitoring"...?

I opted-out anyways! lol

This is a good question. On my CR it says file blocked for promotional purposes

Re: Why do CA's come out the woodwork when applying for a mortgage

The main reason CAs come back to life is because (unless the amount involved is quite small) the lender will usually require that the collection be paid off as a condition for approving the loan. So the CA's odds of actually getting their money are much improved ...

Yikes, sorry about that. I always post the link when someone asks about it... guess this one slipped by me, i meant to! Smiley Tongue

www.optoutprescreen.com  (Same as Shane posted pretty much Smiley Happy)

Our lender uses this and said it functions to block credit triggers as well and requires all his applicants to optout.

I heard lately that CA's have found a way around the opt out system and will still find you once you apply for a mortgage. Is this true?

I'm having ones call from 10 and 12 years ago. I'm scaried to death that there will a current one that pops up right before closing and cause us to lose the house.

There has to be some way to prevent this. The link posted earlier is for offers of credit or insurance. That link does not prevent the collection triggers from happening.

Proof of this was when I applied for a mortgage I still had a CA place a collection on my report right after we went under contract. I had opted out all my reports but this still ahppened. It was for an old debt 5 years prior and for $100. I didnt have time to DV or anything. I just PFD and pestered them.

Opting out did not work for me. I was opt out but still starting getting calls when I app'd for a mortgage. I was opt out for about a month and a half prior to app'ing.
