Am I eligible to join NFCU?

So I’ve been thinking, I have an uncle (who I do not live with) who is retired navy and I want to join NFCU. I do live with my mother so do I have a way into the credit union? Can my uncle sponsor my mom and my mom sponsor me? And does my uncle need a NFCU account in the first place? Sorry very inexperienced! Smiley Happy

According to their guildlines , it has to be immediate family, so if that is her brother then yes she can join and sponser  you. He doesn't have to be a member but makes sure she has DD-214 if needed.

If you have an immediate family member who has joined or one who’s eligible to join, you can become a Navy Federal member. Immediate family members include grandparents, parents, spouses, siblings, grandchildren, children (including adopted and stepchildren) and household members. Household members are defined as those who share your address and pay a major utility bill.

Your mother should be able to join based upon her status as a sibling to a Navy veteran, with no need for him to become a member himself.  After she joins, she can sponsor you for membership.
