@hrguy escribió:Thanks for this, I am not sure why they removed the list of eligible CU's from their site. And I recently reached out to ask for it, and never got a response from them.
This! I definitely appreciate all of @AndySoCal's efforts. I just think they should be unnecessary. If being able to join certain CUs is an advertised benefit of membership of the ACC, people shouldn't have to go Easter egg hunting through the nearly 5,000 institutions in order to locate participating CUs.
I am grateful for the opportunity, but it just seems like there would be a relatively easy, much more efficient, manner to provide this benefit to your membership base.
@PayAndProsperThe credit union has a membership criteria. It looks something like this
Employee of a certain company
Immeadiate family of member of an employee that works at the credit union.
You live or work in a certain state and or county
I am not able to join some credit unions because I do not meet that criteria. To those credit union(s) that offer the American Consumer Council as option I am able to join Such was the case with Logix Federal Credit Union is near where I live. I could not meet their critera. I was able to join becasue they offered the American Consumer Council as a way to join. The same is true for Quorum Federal Credit Union they are in New York I live in Los Angeles CA. You may find a credit union near you where you would qualify because of where you live meets their criteria. The first step is to find credit union(s) near you. The next option is look at the credit unions that will accept you as member through the American Consumer Council which is the first group credit unions. All that said the American Consumer Council gives additional credit union options that may benefit you.

I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm getting at. What I am saying is that I don't think I should have to search for CUs that allow entry by way of ACC membership. You should not have to have a thread dedicated to figuring out which credit unions you can join through ACC membership. Really, all of this should be taken care of by the ACC, in my opinion. Why would you say essentially "ACC membership grants you access to several credit unions across the country. Have fun figuring out which ones they are, though. There are only ≈5,000 credit unions in the country for you to check. Good luck! Happy trails! And thanks, again, for being a member of the American Consumer Council!"
This entire thread should be unnecessary. It's 2023. There should be a link on their website that goes to a page detailing every eligible credit union, at the very least. It wouldn't hurt for them to also include the relevant states, as well.
I appreciate your efforts and I appreciate the benefit they offer. I just don't think your efforts should be necessary. This forum thread shouldn't be necessary. The ACC is just rather inefficient with the rollout of this member benefit.
@PayAndProsperAs I stated in my orginal post I called the ACC asking for such a list. The response was they did not have one. From @hrguy post they had one at one time and removed it. I think there are additional posts that aslo state this. After being told they did not have one out curiosity searched for this information. I took notes then afterwards I eventually posted it here on the forum. The have added to that post 8 more times. I agree with you the ACC should have a list they do not. I agree that in perfect world I should not need to do what I have done. The world is not perfect to say the least. I hope that some one(s) have benefited from the information and used it to establish account(s) with a credit union. I may at some point in time offer to donate my list to the ACC.

Yes. You deserve some sort of compensation for doing all of that legwork. I'm grateful to you and grateful to them for even giving the opportunity... But there has to be a better way (and that is on them).
I know that I'm not reinventing the wheel with this one, but this may be helpful to someone. If anyone is interested in helping with the research for this list, or in exploring many of the credit unions that offer membership through the ACC, they can use this link to access a Google search that will provide several prospective options. Research would be required in order to determine if they are geo-fenced and to where. HTH.

@PayAndProsperIf @AndySoCal wants to put in the effort to have a thread on CU's to join with links. Thats fine. There is a moderation team that is all over this site and no violations of the TOS have been violated. If you disagree. Find another thread to contribute to. This thread could be "necessary" for someone looking to join a CU. On the other hand. Andy if there is an update. Add that to the post of what it is that was updated for Post #1. Bumping threads to keep them "on top" is discouraged.

Everyone seems to be misunderstanding my point. I am not criticizing anyone at all in this forum. Much to the contrary, I have praised @AndySoCal for his/her efforts.
I just shared my opinion that I wish the ACC would have made this information accessible on its site so that people didn't need to go searching through 4,800 CUs to discover which ones are ACC eligible. My only criticism is of the ACC, and I believe that's valid.
I hope this clears up any confusion. Have a good one!
dunno if anybody answered this, but you need to call in
@AndySoCal wrote:@1GaDawg85 @M_Smart007 Did you join them using the American Consumer Council?
The link below is why I considered them Geofenced.
Updated to add..
https://www.greenstate.org/join.html
Just out of curiosity I went to Green State web site. I clicked on join. The questions shown below is after you click next telling you what you will need. Now this leaves me with more questions on how can join with the ACC and not be in one the states listed below
@GZG Here is a link to there membership eligibility page
https://www.greenstate.org/join.html
You would need to call Greenstate. I know of another credit union or two that to join via the ACC has to be done in a branch
