I need to start gardening. I recently went on an application spree: like 5 declines in a row. ![]()

The credit world is trying to tell you something here with 5 declines in a row... ![]()

The thing is that I got recently approved for two cards, so I thought I could get away with getting one or two more . So applied to pretty much everything under the sun ![]()
I kept my hands in the dirt for 24 months and just recently came out to give Disco and City another shot and ended up with secured cards for both. Now sticking my hands back in for another 2 years and I should be in GREAT shape by then! 2 Years seems good to me, age off some lates and all the HPs!
Hmmm. Not sure what average is. I do, however, tend to garden with a goal in mind and a set date. Currently, I'm nearly to 90 days (Silver Spade) and intend to reach the six month mark at the end of July.
We're still paying off debt, but are only carrying balances on zero percent cards (and two 1.9% cards...)
I have reached the one year mark exactly once. DW is spending 2019 in the garden in preperation for a possible mortgage refi in 2020.
...and we've got Moderators around here that can't garden for 30 minutes. ![]()

Dang 2 years of gardening. That’s great. I think a lot of us have good intentions but don’t last more than 6 months....
Agree with this 10-fold. The first time I made it to 3 months; the second time to 6 months. But in December, I set a lofty goal; and by golly, this time I'm going to stay in the garden for 24 months! I have more than enough credit--and thank goodness too, because I don't have the itch to apply. So, this should be an easy stint. Well hopefully anyway--20 months to go ![]()

I'm considering coming out of the garden, but wanted to solicit feedback from others, based on their experiences.
I'm nearly 50% into a 24 month gardening period in order to erase inquiries, age accounts and hit some thresholds. Once that period is up, I will tend to garden for 13 months with a few 6 month garden sessions mixed in.

Kudos @800FICOGoal
