Yeah BECU even asks you if you’re using NWCUF for membership eligibility, this must be new. You can do it all online and I am tempted to do it I’m just not wanting an HP and not sure if they require one.

No HP.

Re: BECU Eligibility Question

For those that applied via snail mail, did you just include your driver's license number and SSN, or did you include an actual photocopy of both them?

Thank you.

Why are you going through the snail mail process?

The NWCUF option is separate from the geofencing which means their field of membership is open to all now. I have them on my radar for later this year.

Re: BECU Eligibility Question

Because when I applied back in January I was denied membership. I think it was because of the number of Chexsystems inquiries (three in December).

It has been 90 days since I last applied. I can't decide to reapply now or wait another 90 days. I don't want to waste another Chexsystems inquiry. If there are more successful data points from people applying from out of state using the phone app, then I will apply via the app.

Has anyone successfully applied via the Android app?

Re: BECU Eligibility Question

Congratulations and thank you!
😊

Now I need to decide if I should apply now or wait another 90 days, because they are at least somewhat Chexsystems sensitive.

I applied for BECU and was granted membership about 2 weeks after applying for 3 checking accounts with Chase. I guess Chase pulled Chex only once?

Re: BECU Eligibility Question

After being denied BECU, I pulled my Chexsystems. It did not show any inquiry from when I opened savings and checking with Chase in August.

I had a clean report; just a total of five inquiries (including BECU) since December.

Re: BECU Eligibility Question

Just an update, I was able to login and fund my account this morning via Zelle with a bit of fussing around since my email address and phone number were used for another bank. Pretty sure I just broke DCU and NFCU now so it’s a good thing I zapped $100 from DCU to 1stBank this morning.

BECU has free ACH in and out so I think I’m going to really like this account, thanks for prompting me to go for it.

I should note that my accounts didnt show in the online dashboard when I created them so it looks like my membership was manually processed this morning so everything is all good. 👍

And no HP? Just making sure, this seems like a nice account to have with fee-free ACH transaction.
