No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I've tried doing a search both on here and on Google, but I haven't found much, or I've found conflicting answers. The most recent post I found on here was from 2023, and it suggested they were legit and was essentially a hidden personal loan.
Anyway, I've gotten several mailers and now even CK is offering me a loan through them with their Karma guarantee. The loan is for up to $77k at 18.25% (which I know isn't great, but is still a lot better than the 28%+ credit card interest). Payments would be 84 months @ $1582/mo. Again not great, but if it's a loan and it's hidden, that'd be a huge way to pay down my debt and hopefully qualify for a better loan in the near future to pay off this one and get better terms.
So fellow MyFICOers, does anyone have any info about them? Are they legit? Is it still a "hidden" trade line? What are the pros and cons? I'm hoping someone can shed a little light.
Thanks in advance!
@OmarGB9 I suggest you investigate a debt consolidation loan via a credit union like Pen Fed Aliamt or Service FCU to name three. See if you can get a better rate.

Trust me, I've already looked into that. Unfortunately due to DTI and somewhat high credit util, they are out of the question. Hence me considering these guys.
I did a little surfing and, while BHG does seem legit, I read a few reports of them making it difficult to pay the loan of early. A reddit poster said the only way to pay it off early is to pay the whole thing, you can't send in extra payments. So if paying off early is important to you, make sure you check the terms.
Like @ptatohed mentioned, they do seem legit, and if that's all you can get, or have researched, or the best rate you can get, that still improves on your position, then it makes sense. Efficiency improvements are always the way to go. There is no wrong move if it improves on your current financial situation.
If what he also says is true, you can't prepay down your debt, that doesn't mean you can't refiance it again later, at an even better rate, with more down to help lower that owed amount. It's only about best efficiency when you hold debt. When you are out of debt, it's about more.
I've had a couple of loans from BHG. I used them just as you intend: To reduce my credit card debt and utilization.
BHG is easy to deal with. The only downside is the relatively high interest rates on their loans. But it's half what you'd pay on credit card debt.
They also offered me a BHG Mastercard with conventional interest rates. Neither the card nor the loans report to any of the credit bureaus, so they don't count towards your total DTI ratio.

@ridgebackpilot Thank you! This is exactly the type of info I need. Follow-up questions if you don't mind:
1. Was there a prepayment penalty/lockout period before being able to pay off the loan early?
2. Were you able to make extra/larger payments than required?
3. I read that they only let you pay off certain lenders/a certain amount of lenders and that they (BHG) pay the lenders directly. Is that true? Or do they give you the option to transfer the lump sum loan to your own personal checking account?
Thank you to everyone else for your replies as well.
I urge you to review the fine print of the loan agreement. I'm fairly certain you will not get the exact terms of the loan until you are ready to sign. BHG Loans are predatory in my opinion. I have settled loans from $10k - $1m+. I've never seen anyone with a reasonable APR. In fact, every account I have worked, I have feared reviewing the loan agreement. Tread lightly. BHG Loans are expensive. Repeat business after shelling out lots of interest will give you some negotiating room on future loans but they make you pay for it.
A personal loan offers quick funds for personal needs, with fixed repayments, interest rates, and no collateral required.
