I do know big banks seemingly have tightened too, Chase refused to send me a replacement card recently (I really have no idea where I left my CSR, lost in the moves or something but at least it's an easy one to just claim as lost and haven't needed to swipe it in months with DoorDash and grubhub anyway) and was astonishingly slow at changing my mailing address on my checking account but oddly not on my credit cards.
We'll see but I will be glad when things go back to normal everywhere including the financial markets.
It's exactly that, the curiosity in how each one operates and a product they offer, I'm interested in. Some of them, it's for the high interest savings, checking accounts or money market accounts. For some it's their loans. Whether auto, personal or mortgage. Also with several banks, unless I'm a member. I can't get the credit products.
That's the main reason why I have so many.
I'd imagine raging Raja has near 50 banking and CU accounts to his name! lol

I guess we are both illegitimate to a couple of these credit unions!!😂
I've had several fraud department heads tell me that the fraud has skyrocketed lately.
What makes no sense, they allow the account to be opened and money to be deposited 😡.
Then decide to lock people out.
Lock me out before I deposit money in your bank or credit union.😆
I guess we are more closely related than I previously thought!😂
Hey son
I guess I'm not surprised to hear about the rampant fraud. But in this case Langley never even bothered to contact me. Oh well, its their loss.
Now I'm glad I didn't try AOD, with my run of bad luck with credit unions it would have been denied too...especially after they saw my selfie.
The big banks are happy to take my money though. I opened a Virtual Wallet account with PNC last month (ugh, but I'm working them for a credit product later) and a Saving account with Bank of America yesterday with absolutely no problems.
Your experiences of "nonexistence" makes me wonder if Scotty from the 'Star Ship Enterprise' "beamed" you up? ![]()

You'd been an easy $25k approval with AOD.
Congratulations on the other banking accounts.
Yeah that's what rubbed me the wrong way about Langley. They didn't bother to contact me about a loan app and or my question/response months ago.
I'll be closing them out shortly.
In the last two months I've closed.
Alliant
SDFCU
First Tech
Consumers credit union
Andrews FCU
Langley is next up on the chopping block.
If I don't feel they are proactive with members...they got to go.
I just replace them with others.
+1

I'm a member of 7 credit unions. To some that would seem a lot but all CUs require membership before you can obtain credit products from them. Even then, I don't have credit cards from most of CUs that I have membership in:
Alliant - previously had an SSL and now Savings account only
Landmark CU - auto loan
University of Michigan CU - nostalgia ... savings & checking only. Their winged helmet and Block M logo debit cards are awesome looking.
United Nations FCU - I'm a former U.N. employee and more recently a consultant - Savings only.
In my experience alumni associations are always the quickest to update addresses. Although I haven't moved recently I bounced around quite a bit some years back and invariably the first pieces of mail at my new address would be from some alumni organization.

Sorry to hear about your experience with Langley @Anonymous . I too had a similar experience when applying for membership while on an out of state road trip. Went through the application process and funded account for both savings and checking. Had debit card sent out then, the paranoias of Langley set in. Logged in a week later to apply for card and notice both accounts where at zero balance. Called in to inquire and was notified that accounts had been actually on hold due to problem with identity, IP address didn't match up with state residing on application. Must come into branch to finalize membership. I promptly told them no thanks" Ridiculous to grant membership in the first place without verifying everything! 🙄 Langley and BECU are some of the worst verication process of any credit union IMHO.

@CreditCuriosity wrote:Not misising anything with Langley imho. Many other better CU's out there. They make no sense it is like they don't want some people. Alot of us can't get in for their lending problems despite high ficos, incomes, etc. Every CU has something they are searching for just like PenFed in which some people have issues with getting a card with Langley causes other issues including myself and many other "bigger" hititers. When one door closes another one opens. I closed my membership a few weeks back as despite 800+ scores couldnt get a credit product so what is the purpose of them having my money as they were the only one that benefited..
@CreditCuriosity I didn't realize other people had problems with Langley... all I see are the positive reports.
No positive experience here. They HP me for membership, yet I never got a notification that they did. The CSR calls me and says since you have the HP you might as well try for a CC. I asked her if she was sure about the HP, and she said yes. Tried for one of their CCs, then I get the notification of a HP, and of course I got declined. I would have never of apped since I just apped for PenFed the day before, but I didn't want to waste a HP, which I doubt I ever had before I apped. 😡

I think as the "myfico effect" takes hold on some of these CUs, they end up wanting to clamp down their geofence. Not sure if Langley is doing so or if you're just an anamoly, but it would not surprise me.
Regardless I don't think their rewards card (they only seem to offer one unless I'm missing something) is anything wonderful on the surface. It's normally a 3/2/1% card and it looks like at least right now they have rotating 5% categories, which like all rotating cards, may or may not be useful.
Like you note, you may not need any more cards anyway and it's just apping just for the sake of it, which with CUs is often more of a pain than it's worth.
