Re: C'mon man

LOL my bad it was 2k stereo equipment give or take about 10 bucks.

The photo ID would be a issue if a perp also had a ID to match with a CC.  In that case obvious differences would be cause to for the clerk at least call a supervisor.

Personally I'm pretty happy not to be asked for ID, since my credit card doesn't have the same name as my ID does. (State law here makes name changes very easy in principle, but the department of transportation is very stingy with correcting ID cards in practice.)

So you don't think merchants should ask for a ID when presented with a credit card?

Absolutely NOT

Merchant agreement does not require it and if the credit card processor doesn't what right/need does a merchant have to demand ID?

Re: C'mon man

A friend of mine took a sharpie marker and wrote in block letters "ASK FOR ID" on the signature panel of his card. 9 out of 10 store clerks don't even notice it, he's hardly ever asked for ID.

Re: C'mon man

I can't quote because I am on a phone....but I absolutely DID walk away...as furniture sales people may make $10 an hour but they ALSO make commission and I didn't think something that irresponsible should be rewarded...I also already knew walking in what bedroom set and mattress I wanted. I didn't walk around for hours picking it out.

As someone who was the victim of identity theft when I was in my early 20 ' s it's absolutely is a sore point. Just because YOU don't believe it....or YOU wouldn't do it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

There are people who order food at a restaurant and if the waitress brings the wrong thing they complain...make them fix it and don't leave a tip. I will never understand that because I would just eat the food...and be on my way...that doesn't mean that other people DON'T complain and refuse to eat it....

There is a whole world out there filled with people who think different and behave differently than you...shocking...I know.
