I've added my children to Navy and PenFed to establish membership and open savings for them. I've also added them to Alliant for same reasons, plus SSL once they are 18.
Are there any other credit unions out there that have better savings rates than these three?
Alliant has the best I know, much higher than Navy and PenFed.
Presently it's at 1.11%
Consumers Credit Union in Illinois offers a high rate checking account. So not a savings account but it is a great rate. Lots of hoops to jump through though. I'd say Alliant is a great place to park some cash and NFCU offers great CD rates.

Thank you both. Was looking more for a straight savings to for them they could easily keep track of.
I have found a CU I can join that has 2% for minors savings. Not sure if something out there beat that.
I'd hop on that in a heartbeat. Is it local or something that others can join?
I use DCU for auto, NFCU and PenFed for CC, Alliant for savings, and I'm sitting on Unify and California CU for future mortgage considerations. All have strengths but none of them approach 2% savings.
It's a Teacher's CU I found I could get in to. 2% is just for students 23 and under and is capped at $1,500; amounts above that have <1% return. Still not bad to help my kids start learning to save
