Chase Checking - Hard Pull

Got an offer in the mail for a Chase checking account. Already have a credit card with them. Was shocked when a hard pull showed up on my credit for checking app. Seems unnecessary and a waste of a pull, especially when they have my monthly soft pull from the credit card.

that, uh, should not have happened. 

are you sure it was a HP and not just a notification that your identity was checked through Exp?

it should just be a SP

Are you sure this was a HP on EQ / TU or EX rather than Chexsystems ?

Yes, it shows as a hard inquiry on my credit report and my other credit monioring services sent alerts of a change to my report.

100%, shows as a hard inquiry on Experian. Also got credit alerts.

This is totally bizarre, a year ago I opened a Chase Checking, Savings, and Sapphire Preferred credit card all on the same day; the only item which shows up on my Experian credit report is:

• JPMCB CARD
• Inquired on 12/22/2022
• Credit card with 0 Months repayment terms.  This inquiry is scheduled to continue on record until Jan 2025.

What does your credit report say regarding this inquiry?

I would call them and ask about it. I have multiple accounts with Chase and have never had a HP for anything but actual credit inquiries.

I spoke with someone in their escalation department. They said this was not a mistake. I have never experienced them with them before either but it is apparently new policy.

Did you go for an overdraft line of credit or anything? Not sure if chase offers those, but possibly might of been the HP.

Sounds like they pulled your credit for a credit card. Chase Bank are soft pulls. Was the rep pushing a credit card? Or did you inquire about one?
