Simple question. Is DCU at all BK7 friendly just a little bit?
Recently was approved for membership opening both a checking and savings account.
My profile before (10 years) and since is 100% no lates whatsoever. I want to avoid wasting a HP apping card products where possible.
Their savings rate up to a grand is ideal. Was nice getting in with only a Chex and bureau SP.
Thank You
I was recently approved for their credit card and auto loan refinance at very low rate. I filed for BK in 2017. They approved my credit card for $7500. I got it increased to $9250. They did not mention my bk at all throughout the process. I do have high number of credit inquiries. They pulled only once for both approvals.
Thanks @Anonymous Mine is sooner as in last year but the rest of my profile seems is coming along well.
What do you consider if i might ask what was the high number of Inquiries? I only added 2 TL's since 2021 began.
Most lenders look at last six months inquires. I would say probably more then three in last six months. Depends on credit file also. I always have too many inquires but manage to get approved somehow. I am addicted to new credit cards not that I need them.
Well thanks a million as it's something to go on for me.
My INQ's specifically on EQ at present are understandably (for me) with some wasted ones that yielded zilch. On a brighter note PenFed breezed through uninhibited. Reason i ask is if DCU is ok with the one's that yielded positive outcomes i can approach with confidence in apping a very first card account with them. There's really nothing beyond them to intend to app. Only NFCU once the secured card goes live and that's it for 2021 for sure.
Is your dealings with DCU carefree? I want to really settle in them.
I am still new with DCU waiting for credit card to come in mail. So far dealing with them been easy. I called them few times for my auto loan and credit card customer service was not bad at all. They were looking at my income to decide my credit limit more then any other factors. PenFed is still my favorite since I am new customer with DCU & NFCU. My current auto loan with PenFed is a refinance also at 3.89% @ 60 months. DCU is offering 3.29% at 48 months plus .50% if I deposit my pay with them. I have a feeling DCU will treat me better then PenFed. DCU gap insurance is $295 and I paid $449 with PenFed. DCU so far looks like an decent credit union. I would be giving them chance to earn my business.
That sounds great @Anonymous for you and a good fit. With me PenFed & NFCU (so far) are treating me very good. Before matters tanked i had $50K on 2 Navy cards for quite some years. I been clawing my way back with NFCU after the turmoil and currently with a ssl Loan and that nRewards Card/checking/Savings. PenFed if you seen my recent posts is been outstanding! Something i wouldn't dreamed possible. Before now i only ever had a $5K card with them and that was years ago
Thanks so much for offering and sharing your insight in replying to me on DCU and more today. I do appreciate your time.
I just read about both of your PenFed approvals! Congrats on both of your PenFed approvals! Both PenFed accounts are gold cards?

I would say that DCU is at least a bit BK7 friendly, but I've never applied for one of their CCs and I read here they are more conservative in CCs than auto or personal loans. And I don't think their CC is very attractive, it's low APR and no fee BTs or Cash Advance fee, but I already have one like that with a local CU. I would likely accept it if they offered it as a pre-approved no HP, but they never do.
I joined in 2017 with a 2010 BK7 on my reports and they approved me for a car loan. I like to buy late model used cars over new and let someone richer than me take that big first year depreciation. I bought a 2016 car in Sept. 2017 and the thing is with DCU is they offer the same rate for cars 1-2 years old as they do for new cars, my rate was 2.99% with Fico score just over 700. Penfed was my other choice, but Penfed wants almost a full point higher than a new car loan for cars even only 1-2 years old.
Membership approved with Chex pull + SP.
PIN arrived as well some days after. A very unique method that they use. Both checking and savings funded.
I read a good deal of wonderful DCU posts right here in the forums. If anyone has any additional information that can be useful please feel free to share.
This is my first CU membership since PenFed & Navy which is been a few years ago now and still going along as expected.
I appreciate any insight another member might want to give a heads up on or share. I really don't think i should app their CC so soon since i'm still in first year 12 months rebuilding although my FICO Scores have risen and are fairly stable where they are awhile due to BK.
It is a relief to belong to a CU that doesn't hammer you with a HP right out of the gate then add another for their products while one is still aging accounts & inquiries.
Congrats on your membership! When I joined, it was SP as well and during the process, they offered me a CC...I didn't accept...just opened my accounts and went on my way. Others have stated to keep an eye on "Loan Suite" while logged in for offers. I haven't seen anything yet but have plenty of time...
Congrats on your membership!!! That special PIN under the special window was charming. Especially when they feel that's appropriate for their blind consumer base. 😂
I've had no real issues, but have only called twice. Success on building that relationship.
Congrats on your membership!
Congrats!!!! Are you going to apply for credit card. They dont seem to be new account or credit inquiry sensitive from what i can tell by my approvals. Again congrats @CreditMagic7

It's sorta a toss up really. I'm pretty deliberate anymore and not so much knee-jerk. There's new balances which need PIF for a clean AZEO next month then i'll want to maybe stretch out another month or two. There's still a new TL yet to land on the Bureau's and then there's NFCU Secured card i'm still waiting to see when it might go unsecured. So there's a lot of variables first. Or i could just dive right after it.
Either way it seems a pretty good credit union with many different options for it's members.
