DD214 Form for NFCU

Does anybody know how long it takes get this this form? I requested the DD214 form for my grandfather who served in the Air Force.  I mailed out the request information on 1/8/20 to the National Personnel Records Center to the following address:

NPRC-WEB,

1 Archives Drive

St. Louis MO 63138

I want to open a savings account with NFCU and eventually get credit with NFCU also.

I don't think you need it. If you tell them, they'll believe  you.

How long it will take can depend on when your grandfather was discharged from the Air Force, if his records were destroyed in the 1973 fire it could take several months for the research to be completed. Was he discharged sometime after WWII and before about 1965?

He served in WWII, and yes he was out of the Air Force before 1965. Thank you for responding.

It took 3 months for my grandfather's. Navy WWII. They may not ask for papers, but can and do periodic audits. Outcome most likely closure without producing papers.

My fathers records were destroyed in fire there is no DD214 from if they are part of those records that were destroyed. They sent an offical sealed letter regarding his service. But i have my son's DD214.

If you go to the branch they may ask for the paperwork. Just call them.

Good advice up thread. While you're waiting for the DD214, give them a call. You can apply for membership over the telephone. It's a quick phone conversation, 15-20 minutes. Longer if you like to chit-chat or apply for products. Navy is open 24/7/365.
