I've switched banks from US Bank to USAA and NFCU.
Here's a data point.
US Bank would receive deposit on THursday. Funds instantly available. Checking monthly matinence fee waveable upon meeting deposit criteria. ![]()
USAA receives deposit on Thursday. Funds instantly available. No checking/Savings matinence fees. ![]()
NFCU holds funds until Friday, has notification on mobile that funds are incoming. No checking/savings matinence fees.
For anyone using direct deposit from their employer who contemplates when funds are accessible.
Edit: if Dear poster CapTool reads this, hey buddy, another reason USAA is pretty awesome.
Yep, I love USAA! I transfer a little money each Friday to my checking account with them and it's instantly available.
USAA also rocks with ACH pulls from other banks.
Occasionally I'll move money from my Wells Fargo checking into USAA using an ACH pull initiated by USAA. They make a portion of the transaction available immediately... in my case, usually it's the whole thing since I generally do small-ish amounts (a few hundred dollars), but once I did one for $1500 and they made $800 available that instant, with a delay on the remainder. A very cool perk...
Also, the above example was before I even had a credit card with them, so they might even be more generous now than just the first $800 (I'm assuming it varies... it might not). With Wells Fargo, any ACH transfers they initiate aren't available for days... until the money actually arrives.
I can't say enough about USAA checking accounts... you really have to try pretty hard to incur a fee for anything.
Just the way I like my accounts... no drama, no fees.
