Discover Bank ChexSystems inquiry

Logged in a few days ago to schedule a payment for my Discover CC and out of sheer curiousity I paid a visit to their banking app page. If I remember correctly, it had my information prefilled, but then I bailed because I don't need an account at this time.  Today, I received an alert that Discover Bank had made a hard inquiry, dated today 2/26, to chexsystems. Is this normal?

To be clear, It was a very early bail, I don't believe I went past the first step where it has my info prefilled and asks me if this is correct?

I don't have any emails or phone calls from the bank. Pretty sure I didn't actually apply for anything, at least, not intentionally.

I believe it is legit. I had signed up for OnAlert by ChexSystems. Email came from: mail.onalertid.com and directs me to login for more details at https://portal.onalertid.com/
