External transfer fee?

Is there any fee for external transfers e.g. using Chase or Citi to other banks like Discover (possible fees from either the origin bank or the destination bank)?

Almost never.  I once did see a small credit union trying to charge for it, but they dropped the policy almost immediately.

Re: External transfer fee?

If they do they should tell you before doing the transfer. As I remember BoA wanted to charge me a fee. But Discover never charges a fee. So to be safe, do it the other way - link the external accounts in Discover and then do an ACH pull from them into Discover.

Us Bank charges a stupid 3 fee at least with gold checking how out-of-date are they.

Re: External transfer fee?

If I remember correctly, BA charged 20-30$ for an external transfer and without prior notification, around 2-3 years ago.

Re: External transfer fee?

There are 2 types of transfers, ACH (2-4 days) or wire transfer (instant). Most banks do not charge ACH fees but not all, out of my army of deposit accounts, only TD bank and DCU charges a fee if the ACH is initiated by them. On the hand, most banks do charge for wire transfer but some banks will waive the fee for incomings.

Re: External transfer fee?

That one with a high probability was an ACH transfer. Maybe they dropped the fee recently.

Re: External transfer fee?

state dept FCU also charges depending on how soon you want to transfer money. If its instantaneous ( call it wire transfer if you like) or 3-4 days the amount of fee varies but its not ever zero.

thats state dept fcu.
