I'm presuming it's for a loan for this to make sense and I have the same question as well

Applied for a loan to pay off CC // I just went ahead and scheduled the payoff from my checking.  Just surprised.  Oh well.

Re: First time denied anything by NFCU

NFCU understandably doesn't like people to pay off debt with more debt, especially debt that originates with them. They're okay with BTs from other lenders but they're well known to be cautious otherwise. Their debt consolidation loans usually entail closing the accounts as part of the arrangement, for example.

PenFed?

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

I have to remind my Members of the same thing, "you can't pay credit with credit". With the exception of balance transfers and debt consolidation loans of course.

I do agree with others who have commented though - some clarification would be helpful to provide some insight.
