Re: Focusing on checking promos

It's pointless to do fake DD because the bonus will be awarded around 3 months after the 1k is reached according to DPs I've seen.

Re: Focusing on checking promos

Wow, i would go crazy if i had to manage that many accounts, i would be in a luny bin.    Smiley Very Happy

I took advantage of WF and got the $400 bonus, no issues.  I plan to keep WF ckg/svg.     I am gonna go for the Cap 1 360 Checking promo $400 today.   I have 4 HYSA accounts(Ally, Marcus, Discover, & Cap 1 360) and 2 checking accounts (WF & Ally).  That is plenty for me to manage, with Cap 1 it will be 3, use it for my play/fun account.    Smiley LOL

Re: Focusing on checking promos

@lovelife2 I have WAY too many. In the past, I was opening them to build relationship for credit products....I am going to put my spreadsheet together today. I THINK this is all I have:

Wells Fargo Checking and Savings

ACEFCU Checking, Savings, Auto and PL

PSECU Checking, Savings, VS

NFCU Checking, Savings, WMC, CLOC

SECU Checking, Savings, VS, PLOC

DCU Savings, VISA Platinum

BOA Checking (for $300 SUB)

PenFed Checking, Savings, PCR

Marcus Online Savings

IRS FCU Savings - barely use

Apple FCU Savings - barely use

PepcoFCU Savings, Checking, PL, VS

Ill add Cap1, Chase, and HSBC and get rid of Wells, Marcus, and IRS and Apple.

Next year, I will probably only keep one of the fee based accounts after the SUB.

I was just curious because I'd prefer not to change FI's for payroll again if possible, because i don't intend to keep Cap1 anyways and would switch back as soon as the SUB was payed out.

Re: Focusing on checking promos

@Anonymous I think it's real DD. I plan to do the same...we won't get our $400 until Apr-Jun depending on when you start. If it's a true no fee account, I may be able to use it. I'll test out the transfer/deposit times during eve SUB period. I can't say no to $400 for $1000 in DD over 2 months.

Nice list (cut so not to repeat long list). I don't think it's hard to keep track of a bunch of accounts, I use Quicken + Excel spreadsheet to double check balances. The spreadsheet helps me project cashflow for each account. And I have to laugh about Quicken - I'm using disc based Quicken 2004 Premier. Smiley LOL They haven't re-invented accounting, so it works fine. I did check into upgrading awhile back but that version is too old to import into newer versions and I don't want to lose 20 years of data so I'll keep using it.  Accounts I currently have:

Keepers:

Vantage West CU ("VW")- Local southern AZ CU, I have partial payroll DD into checking, Car loan & CC.

BBVA Bank - Also local branch for me, Checking + 2 CCs, I get cash reimbursements and their ATM is great for cash deposits. Their 1.5% Rewards card becomes a 2% card w/$1k monthly "DD", ACH from Marcus triggers that for me, then I pull it back.

DCU - Checking & savings, had car loan but refi'd to VW for lower rate + extended terms.

Penfed - Checking, Premium Savings. Home Equity LOC. Opened checking this year for $200 They're much better since they got a national charter,  usually 1 day ACH push/pulls if done early and I have 7 external accounts linked & haven't hit a limit yet.

T-Mobile Money - Just opened in Oct. when I got T-Mobile Home Internet, 1% interest all balances for everyone, 3% first $4k for T-Mobile customers. Slow ACH push/pull & 3 day hold on ACH deposits. I keep $5k there & use for CCs to pull payments.

Marcus Savings: Pitiful .60% interest, pitiful 4 external account limit, pitiful 5 biz day hold on ACH deposits. But fast same day ACH push/pulls if done early so a keeper for now.

Bonus accounts still open:

Bank of America - 2 CCs and got targeted checking $300 bonus in July. I had to move my Social Security DD there to meet $4k DD but I pull it out later the same day to Marcus. If you try to change your Soc.Sec. DD within 3 months of last change they make you go to a Soc.Sec. office to prove your identity, so I don't move it around lightly. Changes in my payroll DD can be done online so that's my preferred DD for bank account bonuses, but my Soc.Sec. office is in the small border city of Douglas AZ so calling in I get a live person under 5 minutes to change DD.

Wells Fargo - Opened early July, $400 bonus paid early Oct. I've been keeping it fee free with $500+ monthly ACH from Marcus & let CCs hit it for payments. I'll do one more ACH in Dec. and then close in Jan.

First Fidelity Bank - Branches only OK & AZ, fantastic $500 bonus for $250 DD to checking, ACH worked, + depositing $15k into savings for 90 days, bonus posted a day or two after $$ hit savings. Nov. 19 is 90 days but I'll wait until after Thanksgiving to pull $$$ from savings to be safe and close accounts in Jan.

Andigo CU - An IL CU that allows out of state. Opened checking & savings in late June. $250 bonus for $500 debit spend, bought a $510 money order at Walmart, and drove down the street & deposited it into VW. Plus $250 bonus for 3 months of $500 DDs. And the great thing about Andigo is that you can fund new accounts up to $1k with CC that posts as a purchase. Funded checking & savings $1k each with PayPal 2% MC for an extra $40 cashback. I recently got an offer on my Sears MC of 12 months 0% deferred interest for $500+ purchase, so I just opened another Andigo savings account for $1k fee free 12 month 0% "cash advance" on my Sears MC. Re: Focusing on checking promos

Ok guys. I organized my direct deposits and I think I have it covered. I need to set up an auto transfer $25 to my Wells Fargo savings monthly from their checking and I'm done.

This takes a lot to set up, but once it's done I can sit back and watch my money work for me.

Re: Focusing on checking promos

Uh boy, i didn't catch that part about having to wait until April for the bonus! Not that it isn't worth the wait but I thought 90 days was a long time for my BoA SUB to post!  lol
