I have established a 4+ year relationship and in those four years, they have offered me nothing nada zippo.
Rejected me for any credit card or loan anytime I applied.
Fast forward to today.
I applied for their Covid-19 emergency loan last week.
I was approved for $5,000.
They asked for two recent paystubs. I uploaded them FIVE minutes later.
Then no response.
I called in was told everything is in order your check will leave Monday via Fed-Ex we will message you.
Nothing Monday till 4pm when they requested DL - SS Card - Proof of residency.
I provided all of this info when I opened my account/membership and nothing has changed.
I uploaded it FIVE minutes later anyway.
They called me and told me everything is in order and completed. The check will leave Tuesday.
I wake up to a secure message asking me to sign a form 4506-t.
That was it...
Nothing has changed in my credit profile in any bureau in 5 years. My employment has been the same for 10 years.
I immediately withdrew my application and transferred my funds in my checking account OUT to my NFCU account.
Once those clear I will close and cancel my membership and NEVER give them another look again.
Their customer service absolutely sucks.
I applied for the emergency loan with NFCU and had the funds in my account in 20 mins. GOOD RIDDANCE ALLIANT.

Darn, that sucks! Sorry to hear. Aside from a "welcome email" I got from an actual person that seemed like they were assigned to be my personal banker or something (which tbh, first time I've had this and was impressed with), I haven't had any experience with their CS or products - other than parking a little bit in their savings.
Glad NFCU came to the rescue though!

Thanks for sharing your (lousy) Alliant story. Sorry it didn't work out better for you.
Might you now share some details on your favorable Navy experience?
Honestly, I'm not a fan of their loan department either.
A couple of years ago, I withdrew $20k out of their accounts and have never looked back.
Besides their deposit accounts side.
I find nothing special about Alliant.
I'll ride that secure loan out till the last day.😂
IMHO, they act more like a bank than a credit union.
For example, I can call Penfed give them the information on a vehicle for an auto loan.
And a check is in the mail that day. No hoop jumping or trying to prove I am me.😂
I'm sure I can do the same with USAA or NFCU. And it would be the same outcome as Penfed.
Alliant wants DNA test done for loans.😂
It left a real bad taste in my mouth when I was getting all of these CUs and banks emailing me about their options during COVID-19 and Alliant decided it was more important to warn about savings rates being slashed days before they said anything about actually offering assistance of any kind. Glad you had NFCU to rely on.

Now that you mention it, I do recall finding it odd that I got that email instead of something offering assistance too!

It doesn't really show a strong desire to assist their members that's for sure.
After seeing how alliant treated my brother I'll never use them and neither will my brother. It was always the run around and nothing but issues for him
Sorry about your Alliant experience. I have No dealings with them.

Congrats on your emergency loan approval and speedy funding![]()
