Grange Insurance

I don't know if this is the correct area but has anyone ever used Grange Insurance out of Columbus, Ohio and what was your experience? My AAA agent recommended them but their is not a lot online about them, what I can find seems to be good. Rates super cheap even cheaper than Geico, Progressive and Esurance knocking them all out the ballpark. What bureau do they do soft pull? Claims experience? How is their customer service? Will they drop you after one claim? Any insight would be helpful.

Re: Grange Insurance

My only experience was as the other party in a Grange claim. My car was parked in a restaurant parking lot. The manager came to me advising he just came on shift and my car had been smacked. I went out to see damage to both rear quarters obviously hit twice. After the meal we left. I was pleasantly surprised to find a note under the wiper.

I phoned the Grange insured that evening. He was very apologetic. He was on older gent and this was his first at fault accident. He took full responsibility providing all necessary info for his insurance company. It seemed as that would be an easy claim.

I phoned Grange the next morning. An adjuster contacted me later. She was a real B!  It was a hassle all the way. The day I dropped my car off at the body shop a rental was denied. Grange said my car was driveable when in the body shop for repairs. I rescheduled the body work to deal with this Grange fool.

Eventually the work was done. Grange authorized a tiny car that would not accomodate a rollator that was always used by a fmaily member. Grange told me it's my fault because I did not specify special needs. The damaged car was a 1993 Sedan DeVille. We transported a mobility scooter in the trunk with only a minor mod to power the scooter lift.

Eventually the rental situation was resolved. Not a comparable vehicle but workable. Several days later I was in a meeting and got a call from Grange. She told me to retun the rental immediately as my car was ready for pickup. The body shop had not contacted me yet. I was forced to leave a business meeting as Grange stated she would not pay fo the body work if I did not comply immediately.

If I am ever hit by a Grange policy holder again I will file a first party claim and let my insurance company hash it out with those crazies. I'd be willing to file a civil complaint against the insured if necessary.

BTW the work was poor boyed. It was body shop we used for two generations. They could do good work but were not authorized to do so. The car leaked when it rained. I took it elsewhere to have it properly repaired on my dime.

My best experience as the other guy with an insurance company was Progressive. An adjuster came to the house. He cut a check on the spot. Advised to contact if anything else was necessary. He gave me an authorization for lift van rental.
