So I see that a lot of people join SDCFU by joining the American Consumer Council and paying If I'm not mistaking 5.00. Seems like a lot of other people join by working at specific places or having family members that worked there. I'm lost and possibly too naive as I have been barely understanding credit since October this year. Can someone explain to me if I should try to join? I do not have any family members that work for such places and I work for a non-profit organization for the Elderly. Any ideas is appreciated.

Well you already answered your own question. its not any non profit. its a specific list. if you don't then only option is join ACC. its just that simple. once they have you registered in the data base. your name will be on file with sdfcu. then you can join no problem. the whole accoount thing takes about 5 days. funding and all. then bingo. even im member. still have not used yet. maybe will try installment loan. maybe not. as im no longer interested in just boosting my fico score. the depth of my report seems more important to me. good luck.
The ACC has a long list of credit unions you can join by being a member. They may even let you join for free by using a promo code if you do a little searching.
