Insight to chase

Beginning of the week I attempted through chase journey to open a savings account with chase. When I first got back in with credit journey it came back with unable to verify identity. But it still showed up with score, report, etc. I attempted to open savings via log in, it came back unable to approve and would see a letter in about 10 days as to why. In the meantime I attempted a pre-approval on a car loan for giggles. It came back pre-approval for 51k.

I can not figure out why no savings allowed.I  called in and rep was unable to tell. I had a sorted past with bankone, who became chase over 20 years ago. So anything in their long memory would be about 25 years old. And it was a derogatory checking account actually.

Anyone care to guess what the problem may be?

@Traveler101, Could possibly be something that triggered a fraud algorithm? ..IDK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chase can sometimes be "finicky" with online opening of accounts.

Personally, I would stop in to a physical branch if possible.

That's what I will have to do. I was just on the phone with them. They are unable to see an account in my name. However, aura, a monitoring service I use, detected a case banking account opened in May name. Chase cannot see anything. Really strange.

Planning on going in Saturday and see what I can find out. Thanks!

@Traveler101,

They may simply want to verify identity?. They are big on that.

Good Luck my friendSmiley Happy

Hopefully it is @M_Smart007 suggests and just an ID issue, but a bad history with a deposit account could be enough for Chase to continue not to want to do that sort of business with you.   Does that make sense if they might give you a $51K loan?  No, but rules are rules!

Thanks. I have been waiting on mail from them. Nothing yet. I will be in a branch tomorrow and see what I can determine. It makes no sense really where it stands. 2 times they have tried to verify my identity via an aura alert. It also warned me of a new account being opened. When I call chase number listed on alert, they cannot see anything.

What is even stranger is they show my score, 799..all my accounts etc. Do I dare speculate and presume it's a verification issue? Tomorrow we shall find out hopefully. Thanks.

Re: Insight to chase

Savings account has been opened. It was an identity issue. I now have some preapprovals which is kind of nice. Just can't act on them due to new accounts. I guess this may mean I'm possibly the naughty list. Time will tell. Thanks to those who helped me understand what the problem was.
