Hello all. I need some assistance/guidance on how to handle this situation.
I've recieved 2 sets of collection letters from Jefferson Capital all within a few weeks of each other.
The 1st set was the initial contact. 'We have acquired your debt. You have X amount of time to dispute this. yada yada yada.
The 2nd set were offers to settle. These 2 sets of letters were all sent within weeks of each other. Still under the time to dispute if I wanted to.
1 collection amount is about $580
2 collection amount is about $280.
These are not on any of my reports as of today. These 2 debts were also under True Accord back in 2020.
They did all their communication via email which I never responded.
My question is, should I settle this while it's in the initial stages. I have some disposal income
and I could handle this if need be. Should I reach out and offer them to settle with the stipulation of them not reporting to bureaus?
As a sidenote, the 2nd debt of $280. The letter says they will NOT sue or report to the bureaus if or not I repl. Yes, it says exactly that.
Thoughts? Any other you need to assist with this? I appreciate it.
Pay them soon so it doesnt report. They gve you the offer. Grab it and be done with it. Like now!
Thank you. Do you suggest anything else before I reach out to them?
They're very flexible. If you pay it off before it reports it shouldn't report. You can negotiate to not report if you pay. If they report, they delete in about 30 days once paid.
