Kemba Credit Union in OHIO

I'm 8 months post DC and am looking at moving to another local CU for  2 reasons....The local CU i joined prior to filing BK a yr ago, doesn't offer FHA loans.  I assumed that all/most banks/CU's offer FHA loans.  Well you know...

And the local CU i joined pulls TU and my TU is 32 pts lower than my EQ 08.....620 and 652.  And EX 623.  All bureaus reporting pretty much identical info as far as i can tell.

So as we know, most CU's pull EQ.  A 652 looks a helluvalot better than a 620.

Can anyone confirm that Kemba pulls EQ for membership and for their their credit products?  Thanks!!

My experience in stating that most CU's pull EQ comes from being on the myfico forums for  10 + yrs and just reading/researching.

There are exceptions....Wings, NASA pull EX....CINFED, State pull TU....But it's probably 80% EQ pullers.

I've recently been looking at Kemba since I live and work within their footprint. Do they HP for membership or just credit products?

I'm probably going to apply for memership tomorrow.....I did read on here that they pulled EQ for a credit card in one instance.  Whether or not that's true today is a different story.

My current local CU 'used' to pull EQ but they switched to TU because EQ was getting too expensive...that's what i was told anyway when i was approved for their $2500 platinum, 4 months post DC.  They may have given me $5000 if they had pulled EQ.  I even froze TU knowing they were going to pull it, but i had to unfreeze to get a decision on the credit card app.

I've only 2 inq's on EQ and they are over a year old.

Apparently there are exceptions -- many. Here's a list I got from a FCU thread some time ago -- I can't speak to its accuracy (but it seems to me if someone goes to all that work ...)

Forgot I had it. Sorry, don't see the one you're looking for on there.

Re: Kemba Credit Union in OHIO

First, if you're going for an FHA then my understanding is a tri-pull is unavoidable unless I'm mistaken. So hoping they'll only look behind door #3, for example, isn't going to work.

To the matter of KEMBA, I *should* be able to answer this one since I live in central Ohio and even have friends and family members with KEMBA products. I could ask them, but they won't know if EQ is pulled or not because they don't pay that close attention to the types of details that are meat and drink for us myFico'ers. And they think my credit hobby is Rain Man-like, so I don't even wanna bring it up lol.

What I can tell you? I belong to five CU's (Navy Fed, BECU, Langley, PSECU, Evansville Teachers) and I would never consider KEMBA, or even Wright-Patt (the other major CU player in our market). But I realize you said you were looking for a specific product like an FHA, and if needs must, then so be it. I just think their products are very underwhelming compared to what can be had elsewhere.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the reply....Of course a tri-fecta pull for a mortgage is or should be, common knowledge.

I'm not concerned with rewards cards, travel cards, etc....That doesn't come in to my decision making for KEMBA. .I had over $500,000 in available credit when i filed BK....I'm over that.

I had about 8 CU's when i filed...NFCU, PENFED, DCU, WINGS, NASA, GECU, ALLIANT.....Can't remember the rest mainly because i had 40+ accts IIB.

KEMBA is local to me....Wright Patt, and the others you mentioned are not.

I am looking to get a small loan for an RV or a motorcycle before i purchase a home in Oct 2021, hence the desire for a local CU that pulls EQ.  There are many to choose from....KEMBA is #3 in my area in terms of $$ /assets.
