I applied for a NASA Shared Saving account on-line with the hope of trying the SP credit card technique.
I completed my application and was asked the typical identity confirmation questions and got through the screen where you put in the information from my current Debit to fund the account.
I called yesterday and at first the pleasant CSR could not find my application but did eventually (the status has been PENDING since Friday night).
She said it looks like everything was filled out correctly and that it can take up to 48 business hours (not sure if that means 2 days or 1 week and a day.
Everything related to score and chex systems is fine, no negatives of any sort. I can see on the NASA FCU page that my application is in their system and the information looks correct.
On the application page for account applications it said Approcal in 10 minutes, yet still waiting. I know from reading the various forums some people have been granted immediate membership and given an account.
Anyone who has applies recently have a similar experience?
Any thoughts on when I should call back to talk to a CSR?

Have you lived at your current address for 2 or more years? If not you may have to submit a copy of your driver's license and a recent power bill. You can scan and upload through the site. This may help with the process time.
Same address for almost 16 years. Thank you for the reply.
They take awhile to process applications at NASA FCU. It took them about 2 weeks to get to mine last year. I joined for the Star Trek credit card but ended up not getting it.
They did want DL and utility bill which i uploaded and was given approval Friday. They have not placed the deposit into the account from my debit card yet, maybe next week.
I applied for their cash back card and status stated incomplete.
Went ahead and uploaded my 2 most recent paychecks and that moved it to Referred.
They do seem to take their time. If I am not approved for their card I plan to grow the savings over the next year with bi-weekly deposits and let some inquiries drop off and then reapply.
What reasons did they list for not approving the Star Trek card? I did not even see the card on the website..
NASA FCU sent me to the garden. Denied CC for too many recent accounts and too many inquiries (those were the only 2 reasons listed). Score, DTI, AAoA, utilization and income all good). Have 13 inquiries on Experian (couple of recent auto loans with multiple inquiries from a bit of an app spree). I actually respect NASA for that, conservative underwriting. Maybe in 6 months or a year after a few of these inquries age out I will try again. Very appreciative that so far it appears to be a SP. Imagine the next application down the road will be a HP.
YMMV
They declined me because of Chex report.
i pulled my Chex report. No negatives. 4 inquires. 3 from 2013 and 1 from NASA's app.
I say...-censored- to NASA then. I build my emergency fund somewhere else now via direct deposit.
+1 ... Almost same situation as mine. I highly respect NASA of their SP inquiry despite being denied. I guess I have to wait 6 month or a year to get one of their cards
My plan is to garden a year and let these inquiries and accounts age. My hope is in that time I will finally be in the 800 club score wise.
