I just wanted to share, I helped my mom get a personal loan from Navy and thought someone may appreciate the DPs.
She was instantly approved for $6700 18% APR for 60 months, with an annual income of approx $20k. It's not the lowest APR but it's better than what she was paying... she had some balances on high interest credit cards as well as a high interest loan from Oportun.
EQ 9 score 683
No lates but her file is pretty young, she has 1 account that's 13 years old but everything else is 2 years or less.
She's been a member of Navy for 1 year and has two credit cards with them, the individual util on those are:
Platinum 23%
More Rewards 51%
She has several other credit cards with other issuers. Overall utilization is 36%.
I did try to do SP prequalification for a personal loan through some other companies but no one was approving her, I am guessing due to income. I should have known to check with Navy first
I can't think of any other DPs but if anyone has a question let me know!
Congrats to your Mom, and thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing. I was curious how they deal with low income personal loans in case I ever need one.
Congrats to your mom on the $$ saved on interest. From my small experience w/ CU personal loans, $6.7k on $20k is definitely an UNS DTI you can get approved if they like you, assuming no other unsecured debt.

Congrats to your Mom!
Congratulations to mom!
Good on you for helping mom out also!
Please check and confirm the APR. It is my understanding that the maximum APR NFCU charges is 18%, so perhaps a minor typo here.

I checked and you're right, it was 18%. Not sure why my brain added that .99. ☺️ I edited my original post. Thanks!
