Hello everyone, I tried to opened a NFCU checking/savings account online today and it gave me problems and provided me with a number to call, once called and verify information the rep states i would have to upload two additional documents for verification, the rep then continued to take my funds for deposit over the phone via debit card, ask about confirmation then was told give them 5 business day to review everything once I'm good to go they'll give me my membership info within 10 business days, is this normal?
I'm not used to waiting that long to open an account, I currently have chase since they're down the street from me versus NFCU branch is over an hour away from where I live.
Also how soon can I apply for a CC after becoming a membership?
Hi @Anonymous - welcome to the Personal Finance section of the forums.
Yes, this is pretty normal when NFCU requires additional verification. Some membership onboardings can be quick while others may take some additional time. This is for your protection and to ensure everything is compliant.
As far as applying for a new NFCU card, you're able to do so once confirmation of your membership is established.
Thank you!
Yay! I've see some movements, they finally take out the membership funds out of my bank, does that mean I'm approved for opening my checking/savings account? Haven't received an email yet, it's only been a day, sorry I'm asking I'm just excited and never waited like this to open an account
@Anonymous
I just opened my own accounts a few weeks ago, so I am not 100% sure, but I would say it is a good sign.
I would try calling them again and checking if you still have not received an email.
Thank you for your advice, everything is good to go I'm officially a member! 😊
Congrats on opening your new NFCU accounts . . . welcome to the family!!!
Thank you! 🥰
