Re: NFCU Restriction Security Department

You mentioned having a good friend move in with you to gain Navy eligibility in a previous post. Did you do that? May have triggered the alert....

Re: NFCU Restriction Security Department

First of all, who you live with has absolutely NO impact on eligibility whatsoever.

With NFCU...you are eligible if you, or a family member, are a current member of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines), or currently employed by DoD or are a DoD contractor.

Are you saying you & your family members have Navy Fed credit cards, but they ALL have a hold on them??

That's not true.  They specifically state that you can join thru a household member:

What You Need to Join Through a Family or Household Member

Family and household members will be referred to as "sponsor" throughout the application process. If you are using a sponsor for membership eligibility, you will need to provide the following information:
Sponsor's last name
Sponsor's Access Number or the last four digits of sponsor's Social Security number and date of birth
Sponsoring member's affiliation (i.e., Army, Air Force, Contractor, etc.)

Fair enough....I stand corrected.

That must be something fairly recent. (as in the last few years) Several years ago when I wanted to join, I was happy to hear that DoD contractors could finally join.  The criteria has certainly loosened .

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the household membership criteria is fairly recent.  It's been awhile before I recently joined (again) after closing my account out years ago but I don't remember that being a way to join.
