NFCU hasn't become as big and successful as they are by being reckless with their lending practices.  They also are known to be very aggressive if you default or are late with payments.

Sounds logical but

Lehman Brothers, 4th largest inverstment bank in the US, founded 1850

Bear Sterns: 7th largest securities firm, started 1923

and many other examples.

Re: NFCU Restriction Security Department

I was able to join through my GF who was a member. We were together for 4 years. Although we are no longer together I still have my membership. I have been a member 7 years now and they have ALWAYS treated my good. They did business with me when no one else would. I got a 7k auto loan day . Later I received a 2200CL on a cc and used it for years. Nearly maxed out 95% of the time. Well my credit score sucked and had several baddies on it and the closed my CC. So essentially i only had my Cap1 card at that point. I started paying my balance and cleaned up my report. Paid all my debts. Then i reapplied for a CC and was approved for a 5k limit. I was SHOCKED!!! I have used that card very responsibly and have since been given a 10k cli for now have a 15k CL.

NFCU is a great bank. I have open 2 savings accounts for both of my kids (they wont know about for years).

Re: NFCU Restriction Security Department

Your sponsor or your sponsors sponsor may be getting audited. If your audited everyone you have ever sponsored also gets audited. This would explain everyone being locked out.

I have to agree, if everyone maxed out the LOC and cards directly after opening they likely decided to double check eligibility. You may even be re audited. If you joined using household member start getting documents together (utility bill under sponsors name with your address showing proof of shared responsibility).

I have also heard, but can not confirm, under navy federal cross collateralization may be able to freeze everyone's account in the sponsorship line and seize funds to make them whole in cases of default. Again, just what I have heard.

You know this for sure?

Yes.  If Navy is questioning a members eligibility then anyone that person sponsored will also be locked out pending their investigation.  Unfortunately, if the member isn't eligble then anyone that person sponsored would then be closed down as well.  Navy doesn't mess around when it comes to membership eligibility.

Well good thing I was added legetimently. The thought of it does suck. Heck if they kicked me out they would be hurting them selves. I always make my payments and always carry a balance. But it does suck to the OP. Hope it works out. NFCU has been good to me.

that sucks you have to wait until Wednesday.

I just legitimately as well but this thread is still making me hesitant to start using the accounts. Even making me regret getting a cc with them as well.
