I agree with the 2-step!!    .. I have one CU account that Sends Me an immediate text upon a successful log-in.

Totally agree with the 2-step!  Recently had some Russian hacker get ahold of my Rockstar Social Club account (wasn't aware they had 2FA available) and from there, he attempted to get into my main Google account.  Luckily it had 2FA and he/she got stopped.  Soon as that happened I definitely went around and made sure anything that could have it enabled, did.  

Curious as to why you're against the VID though?  Something I'm missing?  Like it's flawed in some regard (other than only having to say 3 words to get in) or something?  Didn't do too much research into it, but did do a quick Google search and didn't come up with anything on the forums, although from replies here, it does seem like I missed something.

What part of it don't you like?  If you don't mind me asking.

The ones like NFCU/Google/etc. that asks you to do it once and only bug you to verify again if you login from a different location/device/cleared cookies/etc., I absolutely love and think people should use and benefit from.  The crap like PayPal that wants you to log in then provide an authenticator code EVERY-SINGLE-TIME....I agree with you and am glad it isn't mandatory.

I have financial monitoring systems. I fully trust them. With 2 step it stops them from updating. Which means, even on my secured PC, I have to manually do it everytime. I do not like being forced to do something. You may like it, but I don't. I opted out. Skip everytime it askes and stopped using the mobile app since its forcing me. I have already begun using another bank to get away from it.
